Abstract. Arsad S, Putra KT, Latifah N, Kadim MK, Musa M. 2021. Epiphytic microalgae community as aquatic bioindicator in Brantas River, East Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 2961-2971. One way to monitor water quality is by using biological indicators, namely epiphytic (periphyton). This study aims analyze the periphyton structure and river health status a saprobic index. The research location was Blitar District, method used survey with sampling at three sites based on purposive technique. Periphyton samples were taken quadrant transect (5x5 cm²) then identified Lackey Drop Micro Counting Method. results show that balance, there are six divisions of 59 different genera. found Bacillariophyta, Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta, Charophyta, Ochrophyta, Rhodophyta. most genus from Bacillariophyta Division 28 genera, while least Rhodophyta division 1 genus. abundance ??ranges 242,800-1,229,174 cells. cm-2, relative index ??of ranges 3-60% (site 1), 9-57% 2), 1-62% 3), diversity 1.212-2.617 (moderate), uniformity 0.307-2.151 (high), dominance 0.105-0.549 from-0.18 0.55. Moreover, supporting parameters still optimal, except for ammonia total organic matter exceed standard. Based value obtained, River Tawangrejo Village can be classified into category ?/?-mesosaprobic ?-mesosaprobic levels mild moderate pollution.
